Des vacances dans les vacances ! Ça peut paraitre honteux mais on en avait besoin. Après avoir passé près de 2 jours non stop dans des bus, en zone frontalière et dans un hotel miteux entre l'Uruguay et le Brésil, on avait besoin de se sentir à la maison dans un endroit relax et c´est a Florianopolis que nous l'avons trouvé.
L'hôtel où nous restons, "Le Submarino", se trouve en plein milieu de l'ile de Santa Catarina et donne accès à tout un éventail de plages aux alentours. Mauvais temps et repos oblige, on a passé nos 2 premiers jours à passer en revu la collection de DVD , jouer au ping pong et visiter les alentours. On est pratiquement les 2 seuls clients et pour le coup on se sent vraiment "chez nous".
Le passage en territoir portuguais est vraiment flagrant, et ceux dès la frontière . Le maté est remplacé par du vrai café ( assez rare depuis notre arrive en Amérique du sud ), la langue ( portuguais ) se chante littéralement et la culture est vraiment orientée plage : boutiques de tongues , bikinis et accessoires de surf sont omniprésentes. Les alentours de Florianopolis regorgent de plages en tout genre et pour le coup on regrette presque de ne pas être en été : pas grave, ca nous fera un prétexte pour revenir au Brésil un de ces jours :)
Pour la suite on a finalement supprimé Rio et Sao Paolo de notre liste; trop cher et trop loin pour les 2 mois qui nous restent. On se dirige donc dès ce soir vers Foz de Iguaçu où l'on visitera une des plus grande merveille naturelle au monde.

Holidays in holidays! It is shame, is'nt it ? After spending nearly two days non-stop in bus, border and bad hostel between Uruguay and Brazil, we ned to feel at home and relax a few days before hitting the road again. We found the perfect spot in Florianopolis.
The hostel where we stay, "The Submarino", is located in the middle of the island of Santa Catarina and provides access to a large range of beaches. Because of the bad weather we spent our first 2 days watching DVDs and playing ping pong : No drama, we where exausted anyway and did nt really want to be active. We were the only 2 customers in the hostel and felt "at home".
The shift in the culture ( yep we are now in Portuguese territory )is really obvious, and you get that as soon as you cross the border. Mate is replaced by real coffee (quite rare since we arrived in South America), language (Portuguese) is literally different than spanish and the culture is truly beach oriented : thongs, surf and bikinis shops are everywhere. We almost regret not being here in summer but it gives us a pretext to return to Brazil someday :)
For the rest we finnaly removed Rio and Sao Paolo of our "to do" list. The reason are simple : it s way too expensive and too far for the two months we have left. So we are heading tonight to Foz de Iguacu where we will visit one of the greatest natural wonder in the world.
