Pour entamer ce premier article de 2012: Bonne Année à vous tous !!! Une fin d'année plutôt calme de notre coté où nous avons voulu rejoindre le Laos depuis le Cambodge à moindre coût. On est donc passé par Bangkok, en Thailande, puis Ayutthaya où nous avons passer le 31 décembre avec un groupe de Hollandais, un Allemand et des Français.
Nous restons dans une maison d'hôte tenue par une famille thaï et on apprend que l'endroit était inondé il y a 2 mois ( plus de 2m d'eau ) : difficile a croire , tout est déjà comme neuf ! Nos journée ici sont cools, les temples d'Angkor nous ont tellement impressionnés qu'on passe rapidement en revu ceux d'Ayutthaya et on occupe le gros de nos journées à jouer aux cartes, discuter avec la famille et savourer les plats que la mère nous prépare chaque jours !
La suite du voyage c'est bien sûr le Laos avec le fameux passage aux frontière et les esquive d'arnaques et de corruptions successives : on est passés maitres en la matière :). On retrouve un ancien ami Lillois à Vientiane et qui est installé au Laos depuis 6 ans avec sa copine et leur 2 enfants. On en apprend un peu plus sur la façon de faire ici et la suite s'annonce très relax. On retrouve également Brian et André, de Miami, pour une soirée pendant laquelle on échange des tuyaux pour les étapes à venir, vu que nous faisons l'itinéraire en sens inverse (nous avions rencontré Brian en Inde)

Before we get started with this new post : Happy New Year to all of you ! It has been quiet for us recently : our ultimate purpose for 2011 was to join the Laos from Cambodia at the lowest cost. So we went through Bangkok and Ayutthaya in Thailand where we spend the 31 st of December with a group of Dutch, German and French. We stayed in a guest house run by a Thai family and we learnt that the place was flooded 2 months ago (more than 2m of water): hard to believe, everything is like brand new now!
Our stay there was relaxing. Actually, the temples of Angkor have impressed us so much that we quickly overviewed those of Ayutthaya and spent most of our days playing cards, chatting with the family and enjoying the food that the mother prepared for us every day!
The rest of the trip is of course the border crossing with Laos where we had again to avoid a few scams. In Vientiane , we met with an old friend from Lille who has been living in Laos for 6 years with his girlfriend and their two children. We learnt more about the "how to deal with people" and the well known "Laos, Please Don't Rush" is now assimilated. We spent one last day in Vientiane where we caught up with Brian and Andrew ( from Miami ) and exchanged a few tips for the next steps, as we do the route in reverse (we met Brian in India).
